Ennis, TX – Maria Chambers Identified as Victim Killed In U.S. 287 Crash

Ennis, TX (March 20, 2019) – According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, an accident occurred on March 14 near the intersection of Pigg Road and U.S. 287 at around 5:23 a.m.

A silver 2016 Toyota Corolla was traveling northbound on Pigg Road when it passed through a red light, proceeding into the right lane of U.S. 287.

After passing the red light, the Corolla was struck by a white Ford E-250 utility van, which was traveling southbound along U.S. 287. Both vehicles ended up in the center divider after the collision. The driver of the passenger car, who police identified Thursday, March 20 as Maria Chambers, was transported to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in treatment where she later passed away as the result of her injuries.

The driver of the utility van, whose name has not yet been released, was transported to Baylor Scott & White Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
