San Antonio, TX (April 6, 2019) On the morning of April 6th, a fatal pedestrian accident occurred at about 3:30 a.m. According to the reports, the accident started with a red minivan and a compact car crashing into each other on Loop 410 near Cherry Ridge. After the crash, the passenger in the compact car, 25-year-old Ruby Martinez, attempted to walk across the highway and was struck by a pickup truck.

When emergency crews responded, they found Martinez dead at the crash site. Fortunately, the driver of the pickup truck stayed and cooperated with authorities as they investigated. So far, they believe alcohol was a contributing factor to the tragic crash.

The accident is still under investigation.

We send our condolences to Ruby Martinez’s family as they grieve over their lost loved one.

Pedestrian Accidents in Texas

San Antonio, TX - Ruby Martinez Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Accident on Loop 410Unfortunately, statistics reveal that almost 1,000 pedestrians are killed every year in Texas. Studies also show that one of the leading causes of all pedestrian accidents in Texas is drugs and/or alcohol. When drivers are impaired, they are less likely to be aware of their surroundings, which makes them more prone to harming pedestrians. It’s common for drunk drivers to strike pedestrians after dark since it’s harder to see them, especially if they’re wearing dark clothing. For those who have lost loved ones in pedestrian accidents, it’s vital to contact a Texas wrongful death lawyer to help with filing a wrongful death lawsuit.
