Amarillo, TX – *Update* Several Victims Injured In Crash On I-27 Overpass
Amarillo, TX (April 8, 2019) – On Sunday, Amarillo police and emergency crews responded to the scene of a major, multi-vehicle collision in the 3300 Block of South I-27.
The incident occurred April 7, around 10:50 a.m. when, according to police, a 21-year-old female stopped her Ford Taurus in the left lane to tend to a flat tire. The Ford vehicle was rear-ended by a 28-year-old female driving a Hyundai Santa Fe. The impact of the collision caused the Hyundai to spin around, where it was then struck head-on by a Chevrolet Silverado that was driven by a 24-year-old female.
Numerous parties involved in the collision had to be transported to area hospitals for treatment. These individuals include a 2-month old child, who was in the Ford Taurus. This child was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. A second small child and a 19-year-old male from the Taurus were both transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Santa Fe, and three children occupants, were all transported to an area hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Silverado and passenger were uninjured in the collision.
Unfortunately, the 2-month old baby girl passed away at a Lubbock hospital from the injuries sustained in the collision.
We pray all of the individuals injured in this collision are able to make a full recovery. Our deepest condolences go out to the family of the baby who lost her life in this terrible accident. Our thoughts are with them at this time.
Multiple Vehicle Collisions In Texas
Motor vehicle accidents are the leading cause of accidental injuries for children across the country. Sadly, over 700 children under the age of 12 die in motor vehicle accidents across Texas annually.
Small children who are fatally injured in motor vehicle accidents often leave behind grieving families. Having the life of a child cut so drastically short is extremely difficult for families to deal with. Quite often, parents of small children are unprepared to pay for thousands of dollars in medical expenses and funeral arrangements. For this reason, Texas wrongful death attorneys enable parents and other surviving family members to obtain remuneration for damages sustained.
