Williamson County, TX – Cameron Fikac Died From Chicken Wing In Throat
Williamson County, TX (April 11, 2019) – In late March 2019, 20-year-old Cameron Fikac was eating chicken wings when one became dislodged in his throat.
After the chicken wing became dislodged, Fikac went to two different doctors complaining about the object in his throat. Both doctors told him there was nothing there and failed to adequately diagnose or rectify the issue.
Ten days later, young Fikac went into cardiac arrest while traveling to another doctor for a third opinion and was placed on life-support. On April 9, Fikac passed away as the result of a septic infection, which turned into a brain injury. A CATscan of Fikac, performed while on life support, concluded that he had a chicken wing lodged in his throat.
Our deepest condolences go out to the family of Cameron Fikac as they deal with this very tragic loss.
Medical Malpractice In Texas
According to the Center for Disease Control, medical malpractice is the third leading cause of death in the United States. By 2013, the number of individuals across our country losing the lives as a result of medical malpractice inflated to over 250,000 patients. These horrifying statistics amount to nearly 700 patients per day.
As patients, we place our health and safety in the hands of those who are supposed to be highly educated and experts in their field. When they fail to accurately diagnose a problem, it can lead to fatal circumstances. When victims lose their lives over medical malpractice, it is imperative for surviving family members to contact a Texas malpractice attorney as soon as possible. Not only is it imperative for surviving family members to get the justice and compensation they deserve, but it is crucial to ensure others do not become victims as well.
Our Texas personal injury attorneys at the Benton Law Firm have extensive experience helping those harmed get the justice and compensation they deserve.
