Dawson, TX – Jesse Watkins Killed, 1 Injured, In Crash On Highway 31

Dawson, TX (April 15, 2019) – Around 1 p.m. on April 13, Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene of a collision on Highway 31.

According to DPS, 39-year-old Jesse Watkins and his 64-year-old passenger, Clifford Dooley, were traveling west on Highway 31 in a red Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck. A 2015 White Hino Utility truck, driven by 51-year-old Martin De La Hoya, was traveling east on the highway. For unknown reasons, the utility truck veered into the eastbound lanes and struck the Dodge pickup head-on.

Mr. Watkins was declared deceased at the scene of the collision. Mr. Dooley was airlifted to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in serious condition. De La Hoya was uninjured in the collision.
