Oldham County, TX – Catherine Hoyl Killed In Crash On I-40 Near Vega

Oldham County, TX (April 19, 2019) – On April 17, police and emergency crews responded to the scene of a collision on Interstate 40 near Vega.

Just after 5:15 p.m., 69-year-old Catherine Hoyl was traveling west on I-40 in a 2005 Dodge Dakota. The wet road conditions caused Hoyl’s pickup truck to hydroplane across the roadway, causing her to lose control of the vehicle. The pickup truck traveled across the center median before going airborne and colliding into the driver’s side of a semi-truck.

Hoyl was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision. The driver of the semi-truck was uninjured.

We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family or families of Catherin Hoyl. Our thoughts are with them at this time.
