Amarillo, TX – 17-Year-Old Girl Killed In Crash On Dumas Hwy Near Hasting Ave

Amarillo, TX (April 22, 2019) – The Amarillo Police Department responded to the scene of a fatal collision on Sunday, April 22, on Dumas Hwy around Hasting Avenue.

According to reports, a 17-year-old male was driving a sports car along Hastings Avenue with a 22-year-old man and 17-year-old Andrea Elizalde. The driver of the car lost control of his vehicle. After numerous collisions, the vehicle went off the roadway and drove up the embankment before crashing into the bottom of the overpass.

Elizalde was pronounced deceased at the scene of the incident. The 22-year-old was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. The 17-year-old driver, who police believe may have been intoxicated at the time of the incident, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
