Houston, TX – Two Deputies Injured In Collision On E Sam Houston Pky

Houston, TX (April 22, 2019) – On Saturday, April 21, Houston Police and emergency crews responded to the scene of a fatal collision in the 5900 block of the East Sam Houston Parkway.

According to reports, Precinct 8 Deputy Matthew Self and Deputy Troy Brinkley were directing traffic when a Ford F-150 and a Hyundai were traveling at an unacceptable rate of speed toward the officers. One officer attempted to jump out of the way of the vehicles, causing him to injure his ankle.

The Ford F-150 struck the marked K-9 patrol car head-on. Deputy Brinkley, who was in the vehicle at the time of the collision, sustained head and neck injuries. Both Deputy Troy Brinkley and Deputy Matthew Self were transported to an area hospital for treatment.

The drivers of the F-150 and the Hyundai, who were identified as twin brothers James and Joseph Bramlet, were both arrested.

Our thoughts are with both of the officers who sustained injuries in this crash and their families.  We hope that they will be able to make full recoveries from the injuries that they endured in this accident.
