Odessa, TX – 2 Children Injured in Pedestrian Accident on East 17th Street

Odessa, TX (April 27, 2019) On the morning of April 26th, a pedestrian accident happened in the 1510 block of East 17th Street at Dowling Elementary. At approximately 7:43 a.m., a car struck a 7-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl as they were crossing the street to get to school.

When the paramedics arrived, they found both children injured and immediately took them to Medical Center Hospital for treatment.

The police are investigating, but so far, they’ve cited the driver for failure to yield the right of way.

We hope both children fully recover from their injuries.  Our thoughts are with them and their families at this time.

Pedestrian Accidents in Texas

Odessa, TX – 2 Children Injured in Pedestrian Accident on East 17th StreetIn 2016, almost 6,000 pedestrians were killed in pedestrian accidents nationwide. Whenever drivers fail to yield for pedestrians, it’s usually due to distracted driving. There are laws protecting pedestrians by requiring drivers to always yield to them no matter who has the right of way, especially children. Because it’s harder to see children on the road, that gives drivers more of a reason to be extra cautious while driving. It’s easy for children to suffer serious injuries after being struck by vehicles since their bodies are more fragile.

At Benton Law Firm, we work with parents who are distraught by their children being hit by cars as a result of careless drivers. We help parents file and win their personal injury lawsuits. Our goal is to help them acquire funds to cover all medical bills and more. If your child was hit by a vehicle, call us now at 214-219-4878 to discuss your case with one of our experienced Texas personal injury lawyers.
