Upshur County, TX – Elizabeth R. Shelt Killed In Crash On HWY 271

Upshur County, TX (April 29, 2019) – On April 23, police and emergency crews responded to the scene of a pedestrian crash on Highway 271.

The incident occurred just after 9 p.m. just eight miles north of Gilmer, TX. Initial investigations of the incident determined that a passenger car, driven by 74-year-old Beverly Burns Sinclair, was traveling north along Highway 271 when it struck a pedestrian in the roadway.

Authorities identified the pedestrian as 87-year-old Elizabeth R. Shelt. Shelt was transported to a hospital in the Pittsburg area where she was later pronounced deceased.
