Brooks County, TX – Fernando Davalos Killed, 6 Injured, In SH-285 Crash
Brooks County, TX (May 3, 2019) – On Tuesday, April 30, Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene of a collision on State Highway 285.
According to reports, around 5 p.m., a 2007 Freightliner semi-truck, a 2019 Kenworth truck, a 2006 Kia Sedona, and a 2017 Ford F-150 were stopped in a construction zone along the highway. A 2019 Kenworth semi-truck was unable to control their speed, causing them to crash into the pickup truck. The impact of the collision pushed the truck off the road, causing a chain reaction of collisions to occur.
The driver of the 2019 Kenworth semi, who was later identified as Fernando Davalos, was pronounced deceased at the scene of the incident.
One person injured in the collision was transported to Christus Spohn Hospital Shoreline by Halo Flight. Three others were transported to Christus Spohn Hospital in Alice. Two other injured people were transported to Christus Spohn Hospital in Kingsville.
