Orange County, TX – Pickup Hits Woman on TX-62 Near FM-105
Orange County, TX (May 4, 2019) On the night of May 3rd, a pedestrian accident occurred on Highway 62, just north of FM 105. A pickup truck struck a woman on the highway for unspecified reasons.
When emergency personnel arrived to assist the woman, they found her injured and attempted to call an emergency helicopter to airlift her to St. Elizabeth’s hospital. Due to extreme weather conditions, they were unable to airlift her but used a ground ambulance to transport her instead.
Crews shut down both directions of the highway as they cleared up the accident and investigated the cause.
We wish the injured woman a quick recovery.
Pedestrian Accidents in Texas
Unfortunately, pedestrian accidents have increased by 41 percent in the United States since 2008. Whenever weather conditions are bad, it’s essential that drivers are extra cautious on the road, especially when it comes to looking out for pedestrians. If there is a rain storm or snow storm, the road becomes harder for drivers to see, which means it’s easier to accidentally strike pedestrians. If all drivers remained focused on their surroundings, the number of pedestrian accidents would drastically decrease and save thousands of lives.
