Corpus Christi, TX – Child Struck By Car On Staples Near Middle School

 

Corpus Christi, TX (May 7, 2019) – On Friday, May 3, Police and emergency crews responded to the scene of a pedestrian incident on Staples in front of Hamlin Middle School.

According to reports, 12-year-old Curtis Johnson was attempted to cross the street with a friend when he was struck by a motor vehicle in the roadway. Johnson sustained injuries and was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment. Johnson’s friend was able to jump out of the roadway and escape the incident uninjured.

The driver fled the scene of the incident, but witnesses were able to identify the vehicle. Later that evening, police arrested 28-year-old Wilfredo Fax and charged him with the hit and run incident as well as driving while intoxicated.

Our thoughts are with Curtis Johnson and his family at this time.  We are hoping for a full recovery.
