Alvord, TX (May 9, 2019) – Early Thursday, May 9, Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene of a multi-vehicle collision along US 81/287.

A preliminary investigation of the incident found that a 2015 Dodge Charger and a Chevrolet Corvette were traveling south along the roadway, around 8:30 a.m., when the Charger crashed into a 2010 Chevrolet Avalanche and a trailer, which was being towed by a Ford Pickup truck.

The driver of the Charger fled the scene of the incident.

The occupants of the Avalanche, 78-year-old Harry Betts and 33-year-old Chase Martin were transported to an area hospital for medical treatment. The driver of the Ford was uninjured in the incident.

Our thoughts are with both Chase Martin and Harry Betts and their family at this time.
