San Antonio, TX – Motorcyclist Injured in Hit & Run Crash on E Houston St
San Antonio, TX (May 11, 2019) On the night of May 10th, a major motorcycle accident happened at around 11:30 p.m.
A motorcycle attempted to drive around a van that was driving out of control when the two vehicles collided at the intersection of East Houston Street and North Gevers Street. When the motorcycle clipped the van, the impact caused the motorcycle to crash into a sidewalk.
The rider flew off of his bike and landed on the concrete. Unfortunately, he wasn’t wearing a helmet. The driver of the van did not remain at the scene to render aid to the motorcyclist.
When the ambulance arrived at the intersection to help the motorcyclist, they found him in serious condition and immediately rushed him to the nearest hospital for treatment.
Authorities are currently searching for the driver who operated the van at the time of the crash.
Our thoughts are with the injured motorcyclist as he recovers.
Motorcycle Accidents in Texas
Between 2015 and 2016, the number of motorcycle fatalities increased by approximately 5.1 percent nationwide. When drivers are driving erratically and strike motorcyclists late at night, that typically indicates a driver being under the influence, which makes them more likely to flee the scene after causing a crash.
