San Antonio, TX – Woman Killed in Pedestrian Accident on W Military Dr

San Antonio, TX (May 11, 2019) On the night of May 10th, a fatal auto-pedestrian accident happened at the intersection of West Military Drive and Whitewood Street.

A white Cadillac struck a woman who was in her late 60’s or early 70’s as she was crossing West Military Drive. The accident took place at around 9:45 p.m.

When an ambulance arrived to assist the woman, she had already suffered fatal injuries.

The police are currently investigating the accident for further information. The driver responsible initially left the scene because he didn’t see the woman and was unaware that he hit her. However, he returned because he had to drop his family off at home, which is when the police were able to stop him for questioning. Investigators also believe heavy rain may have been a contributing factor.

Our thoughts are with the deceased woman’s family at this time.

Pedestrian Accidents in Texas

San Antonio, TX – Woman Killed in Pedestrian Accident on W Military DrIn 2016, a pedestrian was fatally injured every hour and a half nationwide. The reason so many pedestrians lose their lives after being hit by vehicles is due to dangerous distractions. Even though drivers may think they’re able to multi-task on their phones and drive simultaneously, statistics have proven that assumption to be inaccurate. When a driver is zoned in on their cell phones, they’re not able to successfully perceive every detail about their surroundings, especially if weather conditions are hazardous.
