Houston, TX – Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accident on W Tidwell Rd
Houston, TX (May 12, 2019) On the morning of May 11th, a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident happened in the 100 block of West Tidwell Road. An SUV hit a woman as she crossed the street at around midnight. The vehicle drove off without checking to see if the woman was okay.
By the time the paramedics arrived, they found the woman lying on the ground unresponsive. Unfortunately, despite life-saving attempts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities are currently investigating, but based on the debris left behind, they suspect the SUV to be white and manufactured in the mid-2000s.
Our thoughts are with the deceased woman’s family.
Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accidents
Almost 700,000 hit-and-run accidents occur nationwide annually, and a high percentage of them involve pedestrians. When vehicles strike pedestrians late at night and then flee the scene, they could be driving under the influence and completely unaware that they hit someone. If they are aware, they fear the consequences of their actions and flee if they think no witnesses were around. All drivers are responsible for driving safely on the roads to avoid harming pedestrians. When they fail to do so, they should be held financially responsible for all damages and losses.
