Austin, TX – Carlos Moncada Cruz Killed In US 290 Crash

Austin, TX (May 14, 2019) – On May 14, police identified the victim of a motor vehicle accident on US 290 and Farm-to-Market Road 1826 late last month.

According to Austin Police, an SUV was exiting a private drive on US 290 when they ignored a posted sign that says “right turn only” and turned left into traffic. At the same time the driver of the SUV pulled out, 19-year-old Carlos Moncada Cruz, was traveling down US 290. The SUV struck the silver car driven by Cruz, causing his vehicle to cross over into the eastbound lanes where it was struck for the second time by a truck.

Cruz was pronounced deceased at the scene of the incident. The driver of the truck was injured in the collision and transported to an area hospital for treatment.
