Reagan, TX – 16-Year-Old Killed In Fire On County Roads 251 and 2906
Reagan, TX (May 17, 2019) – On May 15, emergency crews responded to the scene of a house fire near the intersection of Country Road 251 and Country Road 2906.
According to reports, a 17-year-old girl and 16-year-old boy were staying at the home of a family member when the house became engulfed in flames around 8 p.m. A friend of the siblings was nearby when he noticed the fire and raced over to the home to help.
With the assistance of a neighbor, Chief Falls County Deputy Derick Johnson, and K9 Officer Rebecca Lord, they pulled the 16-year-old boy, who was identified as Tyler Kelley, from the fire but were unable to resuscitate him at the scene. He was pronounced deceased due to the incident.
The 17-year-old girl, Amy Kelley, was able to escape the home but suffered both burns and smoke inhalation in the incident.
K9 Officer Rebecca Lord was hospitalized for smoke inhalation following this incident.
