Houston, TX – Man Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Accident on I-10

Houston, TX (May 18, 2019) On the morning of May 18th, a fatal pedestrian accident happened on the Interstate 10 Freeway at approximately 5:51 a.m. A driver who was having vehicle trouble got out of his red car to check on it after it stalled. As he was doing so, a white pickup truck struck the man. An 18-wheeler lost control after trying to avoid the accident and ended up overturning.

When the ambulance arrived to help, they found the pedestrian dead at the scene despite immediate medical care. None of the other drivers were reportedly injured.

Authorities are investigating to determine what caused the pickup truck driver to strike the man.

We offer our sincere condolences to the family of the man who passed away as a result of this accident.  Our thoughts are with them at this time.

Pedestrian Accidents in Texas

Houston, TX – Man Killed in Fatal Pedestrian Accident on I-10Unfortunately, within the first six months of 2018, approximately 298 pedestrians lost their lives in Texas. Whenever pedestrian accidents occur on highways, it’s often because vehicles are traveling at high speeds, making it difficult to suddenly brake for someone who is standing outside of their vehicle. If it’s dark and the highway is dimly lit, it makes it even more difficult for drivers to see pedestrians on highways. However, if drivers are constantly paying attention to their surroundings, they should be able to see pedestrians or stopped cars in the distance and yield or brake accordingly.
