Fayette County, TX – Driver Killed In Hit And Run Crash On Highway 77

Fayette County, TX (May 22, 2019) – The Texas Department of Public Safety is continuing efforts to locate the driver responsible for a hit and run fatality early last month.

On April 4, DPS responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident just after 2 a.m. on Highway 77. According to reports, Byler Lehmann was traveling along the Highway in a white 2017 Mustang when his vehicle collided with an 18-wheeler for unknown reasons.

The Mustang went underneath the 18-wheeler, causing extensive damage to the roof of the car. Upon its exit, the Mustang rolled over multiple times before coming to rest on top of a culvert near the Warda Post Office.

The driver of the car was transported to an area hospital where he remained on life support for several weeks. Authorities stated on May 22, Lehmann was taken off life support and has since succumbed to his injuries.
