Houston, TX – 1 Killed and 1 Injured in Fatal Pedestrian Accident on SH-99

Houston, TX (May 25, 2019) On the early morning of May 25th, a fatal accident happened on State Highway 99 and Telge Road at about 3:00 a.m. A man and his wife were driving on the highway when their vehicle ran out of gas. As the man got out of the car to look for help, an F-150 pickup truck struck him.

When the paramedics arrived to help, they found the man lying in the roadway deceased at the scene. His wife, who witnessed the entire incident, was uninjured. The driver of the pickup truck sustained injuries and was transported to the closest hospital for treatment.

The police are investigating what led up to the fatal crash. So far, they don’t believe alcohol or drugs were contributing factors, but they do believe that the area was poorly lit.

Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased man and his wife at this time. We also wish the injured victim a full recovery.

Pedestrian Accidents in Texas

Houston, TX – 1 Killed and 1 Injured in Fatal Pedestrian Accident on SH-99Unfortunately, during the first six months of 2018, nearly 300 pedestrians lost their lives in Houston. When drivers strike pedestrians late at night, poorly lit roads are often a contributing factor, especially if the pedestrian is wearing dark clothing and the driver is not paying attention. Other causes include drunk driving and drowsy driving, which both alter a driver’s vision and makes them more prone to accidentally striking pedestrians.

At Benton Law Firm, we are passionate about helping families file wrongful death lawsuits and winning large settlements to help support them after they lose a loved one. It’s unjust for families to pay for damages and losses that other drivers cause.
