Lufkin, TX – 1 Injured in 3-Car Collision on U.S. Highway 59

Lufkin, TX (May 25, 2019) On the evening of May 24th, a three-car collision happened on U.S. Highway 59 near a Lufkin highway.

A vehicle crashed into the back of another vehicle, which caused the vehicle in front to rear-end another vehicle. One of the vehicles involved was an 18-wheeler truck. Although the accidentally initially occurred in the northbound lane, one of the vehicles ended up in the southbound lane.

When the paramedics arrived to help, they found one of the drivers suffering from injuries and rushed the victim to CHI St. Luke’s Health Memorial for treatment.

Crews shut down most of the lanes as they cleared the scene and investigated.

The accident is still under investigation, but the police arrested one of the drivers for traffic offenses.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and his or her family at this time.

Vehicle Accidents in Texas

Lufkin, TX - 1 Injured in 3-Car Collision on U.S. Highway 59In 2015, the city of Lufkin had approximately 1,171 auto accidents, ranking as the 53rd city in Texas with the highest number of annual vehicle collisions. When accidents occur on highways, the leading cause is often because drivers are distracted by their cell phones, food, alcohol, other passengers, or other activities. Distracted driving often leads to drivers unintentionally violating traffic laws and/or speeding. When drivers do this, they put themselves and others at risk of sustaining potential catastrophic or fatal injuries.
