Lee County, TX – Three Children Killed In Highway 77 Crash

Lee County, TX (June 6, 2019) – At approximately 3:45 p.m. on June 5, the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Highway 77 just south of Giddings.

DPS reports show that a car was traveling north on the highway when the driver attempted to avoid hitting a jackknifed 18-wheeler in the roadway. As a result, the car struck a second semi, which was position behind the first one.

Two children and one adult inside the car were transported to an area hospital in critical condition. Three other children inside the car were pronounced deceased at the scene.

At this time, the cause of the incident remains under investigation. Weather is believed to be a factor in this incident.
