Grand Prairie, TX – Albert Castaneda Killed In Bush Turnpike

Grand Prairie, TX (June 7, 2019) – On June 7, Grand Prairie Police Officer Albert Castaneda was working an off-duty speed enforcement project along the Bush Turnpike.

Reports show that Castaneda was using a handheld radar outside of his patrol SUV, around 10:40 a.m., leaving his patrol SUV along the shoulder of President George Bush Turnpike near Dickey Road.

As Castaneda stood outside of his vehicle, a northbound Nissan 300ZX lost control of his vehicle, striking Castaneda. The impact of the collision caused the officer to be thrown over the highway to the ground below.

The officer sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at 10:58 a.m.

The incident remains under investigation at this time.
