McGregor, TX – Bailey Carlson Arrested For Death Of Kayn Kemp On SH-317
McGregor, TX (June 14, 2019) – On June 6, emergency crews responded to the scene of a pedestrian accident on State Highway 317.
Reports from the incident show that 26-year-old Kayn Kemp was walking along the roadway, around 10:30 p.m. when he was struck by a motor vehicle from behind. Kemp was discovered alongside the road after he failed to arrive at work. Kemp was pronounced deceased at the scene of the incident.
On Wednesday, June 12, 23-year-old Bailey Carlson turned herself into the McGregor Police Department for her involvement in the incident. Carlson states that she was traveling down the roadway in a white 2005 Ford F-150 when she took her eyes off the road momentarily to plug in her cell phone.
While doing so, Carlson believed she struck a mailbox but did not stop at the scene to investigate. Carlson was taken into custody on Thursday and is being charged with failure to stop and render aid resulting in death.
We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of Mr. Kayn Kemp. Our thoughts are with them at this time.
