Walker County, TX (June 19, 2019) – On June 14, emergency crews and the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene of an airplane crash in a wooded area of Walker County.

Reports from DPS indicate the single-engine Piper PA-28 suffered engine problems while in the air, which resulted in a crash.

The plane’s pilot, who was identified as 20-year-old Jay West III sustained injuries in the collision and was transported to Memorial Herman Hospital for treatment.

The passenger of the plane, who was identified as 20-year-old Kennedy O’Malley, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene of the incident.
