UPDATE: Montgomery County, TX – Jose Ortiz Garcia and 3 Injured in Fatal Three-Car Crash on Hwy 242
Montgomery County, TX (June 22, 2019) On the 20th of June, a fatal three-car crash happened on Highway 242 just after 11:00 p.m. A 22-year-old named Jose Ortiz Garcia was operating a 2010 Ford Mustang on the highway when he veered into the opposite lanes and collided with an oncoming 2014 Nissan Altima operated by 25-year-old Janeth Leal. Shortly after, the Mustang crashed into a 2002 Honda Civic driven by 18-year-old Giovanny Rojas. The impact of the crash caused the Mustang to split in half.
When the paramedics arrived, they found Garcia in his car with fatal injuries. They also found Rojas suffering from critical injuries and transported him to Memorial Hermann Hospital for treatment. Leal and her passenger, 40-year-old Nancy Leal, also sustained injuries and were transported to Conroe Regional Hospital for treatment.
Investigators are working to determine what caused Garcia’s car to veer into the opposite lanes.
We send our condolences to the family of Jose Ortiz Garcia as they grieve. We also wish Giovanny Rojas, Janeth Leal, and Nancy Leal quick recoveries.
Head-On Collisions in Texas
In 2017, over 500 people lost their lives in Texas as a result of head-on collisions. Most of the time head-on collisions occur late at night, especially on the weekends. Friday through Sunday are the days when people are going to parties, lounges, bars, and clubs, especially those who don’t have work the next day. However, even though there are many ridesharing apps, some individuals still choose to get behind the wheel after they’ve consumed too much alcohol, which puts them and others at risk of losing their lives.
At Benton Law Firm, we specialize in both wrongful death lawsuits and personal injury lawsuits for those who have been wrongfully harmed in head-on collisions.
