Dallas, TX – Child Struck and Killed in Car Accident on Red Bird

Dallas, TX (July 6, 2019) – A 12-year-old boy was struck and killed Saturday afternoon, July 6th, while crossing Red Bird Street.

According to Dallas police, Ricky Tave was hit by a car around 1:30 p.m. as he tried to run across West Ledbetter Drive near Vista Wood Boulevard. He was collecting donations for a youth football team when he was hit in the car accident.

He was transported to the hospital but pronounced dead at Children’s Medical Center Dallas.

According to authorities, the driver stopped initially but tried to get back into her Nissan Altima when witnesses attempted to detain her. She fled but was later found and arrested.

The driver, Jastasia King, 26, faces charges of failure to stop and render aid.
