Cherokee County, TX – Katherine Ann Petty Killed In Crash On US-69
Cherokee County, TX (July 8, 2019) – Authorities have identified the victim of a deadly auto-pedestrian accident that took place on Sunday, July 7th. The crash happened on US-69 around 3:15 p.m. outside of Rusk.
The Texas Department of Public Safety identified the deceased as 60-year-old Katherine Ann Petty. She was reportedly seen chasing a dog down a road in Cherokee County when she was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
DPS reports that the vehicle involved was a semi-truck driven by 41-year-old Rogelio Armando Castillo of Lufkin. Authorities claim Castillo was traveling northbound in the inside lane of US-69 when Petty ran onto the roadway, striking the victim.
Petty later succumbed to her sustained injuries after being taken to hospital in Tyler.
No other details concerning the incident are currently available.
Police are investigating the cause of the collision.
