Newtown County, TX – Collision On State Highway 87 Results In Fatal Injuries

Newtown County, TX (July 16, 2019) – On July 13, at approximately 2:45 a.m., emergency crews and the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene of a motor vehicle collision on State Highway 87.

According to reports, 24-year-old Brycton Hughey was traveling north along State Highway 87 in a 2012 Chevrolet when, for unknown reasons, his vehicle crossed over the center lines and collided head-on with a southbound 1996 Chevrolet passenger vehicle.

The impact of the collision caused the Chevrolet pickup truck to catch on fire, resulting in fatal injuries for the driver.

Brycton Hughey was airlifted to Christus Hospital in Beaumont where he was admitted in serious condition.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
