Whitney, TX – 13-Year-Old Girl Drowned In Lake Whitney

Whitney, TX (July 23, 2019) – On Monday, July 22, emergency crews and the Hill County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene of a possible drowning at Lake Whitney near Cedar Creek Park around 6 p.m.

According to reports, a group of younger kids was swimming in the lake when a 13-year-old girl in the group went underwater and failed to resurface. Crews from HCSO, Hill County Office of Emergency Management, the Whitney Volunteer Fire Department and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Warden Division all responded to search for the female victim.

At approximately 7 p.m., the girl was pronounced deceased at the scene of the incident.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
