Houston, TX – 6 Injured in Two-Car Collision on I-45
Houston, TX (July 27, 2019) On the morning of July 27th, a two-car collision happened on the Interstate 45 freeway near Calvary Road, just north of Willis. A family was headed to Huntsville State Park via the I-45 when an 18-wheeler switched lanes in front of their Toyota Tundra. To avoid a collision, they switched into the left lane where an oncoming Nissan Titan was also headed in the same direction. The Nissan and the Toyota collided, causing the Toyota to spin and flip out of control. As a result, the Nissan crashed into the wall. The accident took place at around 11:00 a.m.
When emergency personnel arrived, they found that a 24-year-old female, an 8-year-old girl, and a 2-year-old boy had ejected out of the Toyota. The 24-year-old and 8-year-old were transported to Conroe Regional via ground ambulance. The 2-year-old was flown to Memorial Hermann in Houston. The 45-year-old driver, the 47-year-old front seat passenger, and a 2-year-old girl were also found injured in the same vehicle and were all taken to Conroe Regional in stable condition. Unfortunately, the 8-year-old girl did not survive her injuries.
The occupants inside of the Nissan were not harmed.
Authorities are still investigating to determine fault and liability for this crash.
Our thoughts are with the families of the deceased and injured victims at this time.
Car Accidents in Texas
In 2018, about every two minutes at least one person sustained injuries as a result of a car accident in Texas. Sadly, most car accidents are avoidable if drivers remained focused on the road at all times. When drivers don’t check their surroundings before switching lanes, they put themselves and others in danger.
