Gainesville, TX – Yu Qiu & Francesca Norris Killed In Plane Crash Near Gainesville Municipal Airport
Gainesville, TX (July 30, 2019) – On July 27, shortly after 4 p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene of an airplane accident near the Gainesville Municipal Airport.
According to reports, instructor 25-year-old Francesca Norris was traveling in Piper PA-34 airplane with student pilot 22-year-old Yu Qiu. The two were attempted to make a landing near the Gainesville Municipal Airport when, for unknown reasons, the plane crashed just 440-yards from the runway.
The impact from the collision caused the plane to burst into flames. Yu Qiu sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.
Francesca Norris was transported to Parkland Hospital in Dallas, where she was pronounced deceased.
At this time, the incident is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration.
