Houston, TX – Man Killed in Accident on North Freeway at West Rd
Houston, TX (August 11, 2019) On the morning of August 11th, a pedestrian accident happened on the shoulder of the North Freeway at West Road. A man was on the highway changing his tire when a white Mazda sedan struck him, which caused a chain reaction involving five vehicles. Instead of remaining at the scene, the driver of the Mazda left the scene on foot.
When the paramedics and police arrived at the scene, they found the injured man lying in the roadway. Sadly, he lost one of his legs, but he is expected to survive. Out of all of the drivers and passengers involved, he was the only one who sustained injuries as a result of the crash. He was rushed to the closest hospital for immediate care.
Crews shut down some of the lanes of the highway as they worked to clean up the collision. The lanes were reopened at around 9:30 a.m.
The police are still searching for the driver responsible for striking the man and fleeing the scene.
Our thoughts are with the injured man as he begins the recovery process.
