Amarillo, TX – Teen Killed In Collision On SW 9th Ave

Amarillo, TX (August 12, 2019) – At approximately 7:45 a.m., on August 12, the Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Southwest 9th Avenue.

Reports from DPS indicate that 17-year-old John Morrison was at a stop sign facing east along Southwest 9th Avenue, in a 2012 Chevrolet Camaro. After a brief moment, Morrison continued through the intersection where his vehicle was struck by 34-year-old Gerald Stevens in a 2004 Dodge Ram, towing a trailer south along South Loop 335.

Morrison sustained fatal injuries in the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is actively investigating this incident.
