Waco, TX – 4-Year-Old Child Dies In Fire Accident On Burnett Ave

Waco, TX (August 14, 2019) – On August 13, the Waco Fire Department responded to the scene of a fire accident in the 2800 block of Burnett Avenue just after 5 p.m.

According to the Waco FD, a fire erupted in a home for unknown reasons. Crews arrived at the scene within five minutes to find fire and smoke filling the front portion of the home. Firefighters cut a hole in the roof to release the heat and smoke as they rescued those trapped inside.

Police and firefighters learned that a woman, who was identified as Julie Jaramillo, was trapped inside with her 4-year-old daughter Areli Jaramillo.

Ms. Jaramillo was removed from the building and suffered burns on both elbows.

Crews were able to locate 4-year-old Areli, who was unconscious in her room.

Medical crews began administering CPR to her as she was transported to Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Medical Center. Authorities later confirmed that the young girl passed away due to her injuries.

At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
