Boerne, TX – Officer Injured in Pedestrian Accident on N Esser Rd

Boerne, TX (August 31, 2019) On the evening of August 30th, a police officer was involved in a pedestrian accident in the 100 block of North Esser Road. Right before the accident, Officer Michele Van Stavern was standing in the road while directing traffic after a football game between Boerne High School and Champion High School. A pickup truck struck her at around 10:00 p.m.

When emergency crews arrived, they found Van Stavern lying in the roadway injured and transported her to University Hospital via Kendall County EMS.

The police are still investigating but they arrested the driver responsible for driving while under the influence. He has been identified as 35-year-old Andrew Harris. At the time of the crash, Van Stavern was wearing a visible traffic vest and she was using a flashlight.

Our thoughts are with Officer Michele Van Stavern as she recovers from her injuries.

Pedestrian Accidents in Texas

Boerne, TX – Officer Michele Van Stavern Injured in Pedestrian Accident on N Esser RdThousands of police officers are injured annually while out in the field. When police officers are hit late at night while working, the cause is often intoxicated drivers, especially if the accident happens on a weekend. Sadly, just like other pedestrians, officers don’t wear enough protective gear to shield their bodies from severe injuries, which is why it’s important to file a personal injury lawsuit against all liable parties.

At The Benton Law Firm, we do our best to assist injured victims with filing personal injury lawsuits against intoxicated and irresponsible drivers.
