Dayton, TX – 17 Injured in Train Accident Involving Semi in Dayton

Dayton, TX (August 31, 2019) On the afternoon of August 30th, a train accident happened while an Amtrak train was in route from Los Angeles to New Orleans. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Amtrak train collided with a semi-truck in southeastern Texas. The semi-truck drove into the train’s path near Dayton, about 35 miles away from Houston. As a result of the accident, the train’s engine came partially off of the track. The accident happened at County Road 621 at around 4:00 p.m.

When emergency crews arrived to help, they found the driver of the semi-truck and 16 passengers inside of the train injured. All 17 injured victims were rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment.

Authorities are still investigating to determine fault and liability.
