Fannin County, TX – Juana Alvarez & Child Killed In Hwy 11 Crash

Fannin County, TX (September 2, 2019) – On August 30, emergency crews responded to the scene of a major motor vehicle accident on State Highway 11 just east of Whitewright.

According to reports, 20-year-old Keagan Cannaday was traveling east along the highway at a high rate of speed. Cannaday drove into the westbound lane where he collided with a truck towing a trailer, which was loaded with wood.

The driver of the pickup truck, who was identified as 39-year-old Arnulfo Alvarez, incurred serious injuries and was transported to a McKinney hospital for treatment. A 3-year-old child inside the truck, who was identified as Andres Alvarez, was transported to a hospital in Dallas with serious injuries.

The driver’s wife, 25-year-old Juana Alvarez, who was pregnant at the time of the collision, as well as the couple’s two-year-old son, Lucas, were both pronounced deceased at the scene. The unborn child did not survive the collision.

Cannaday was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence and transported to a hospital in Plano for treatment.

The collision remains under investigation at this time.
