Amarillo, TX – Pedestrian Fatally Injured in I-40 Crash

Amarillo, TX (September 3, 2019) – Emergency crews responded to a fatal accident on the westbound side of Interstate 40 just before 9:30 a.m.

On September 3, the Amarillo Police Department received the request for assistance regarding an incident in the 8000 block of West Interstate 40.

According to reports, 28-year-old Jesse Pompey was crossing Interstate 40 northbound when he was struck by a 2019 Kenworth semi-truck pulling a loaded flatbed trailer.

Pompey was transported to an area hospital immediately following the incident.

Authorities confirmed that the victim succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving.

At this time, the Traffic Investigation Squad with the Amarillo Police Department is investigating the incident.
