Powderly, TX – 2 Killed in Motorcycle Crash on US 271 N

Powderly, TX (September 4, 2019) – A drunk driving accident claims the lives of two on US Highway 271 North.

According to reports, at approximately 10:45 p.m. on September 2, emergency crews responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of US Highway 271 and Farm to Market Road 2648.

40-year-old Amanda West was traveling along the Highway in a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe when she failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign. As West’s Tahoe proceeded through the intersection, it collided with a northbound motorcycle.

The two occupants of the motorcycle, who were identified as 71-year-old Carl Oldham and 68-year-old Deborah Oldham, were ejected from their vehicle. Both individuals incurred fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Ms. West was subsequently arrested for intoxication manslaughter for this incident.

At this time, the collision remains under investigation.
