Houston, TX – UPDATE: Child Sustains Brain Injuries in Crash at Hollister Rd

Houston, TX (September 8, 2019) – More details have been released after a serious crash on the Beltway 8 feeder road in northwest Harris County on Sunday.

A 2-year-old boy was injured in the crash and has suffered brain swelling, deputies say. The wreck happened just before 5:00 a.m. in the 49000 block of the Sam Houston Parkway near Hollister Road. Officials say that the driver of the other vehicle involved was en route to work. Deputies told reporters that there were no signs of impairment from either of the drivers in the crash.

However, both drivers claimed to have a green light, so fault has not been determined at this time. Though authorities say that one of the two vehicles ran a red light, causing the car carrying the toddler to be pushed across the median.

Both the boy and his father were transported to an area hospital, with the boy suffering possible brain damage from brain swelling. The investigation into the wreck is ongoing.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
