Goodnight, TX – One Killed & One Injured in US 287 Collision

Goodnight, TX (September 12, 2019)- On September 11, emergency crews responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on US Highway 287.

According to reports from police, 22-year-old Galyean Swayer was traveling east along US 287 when he rear-ended an SUV, which was driven by 58-year-old James Powell. The impact of the collision caused the SUV to spin out of control. After moving into the center lane, the SUV struck a slope along the median and rotated several times.

The passenger inside the SUV, who was identified as 60-year-old Tojuanna Pierce, was ejected and incurred fatal injuries. Authorities pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

Powell was seriously injured and transported to Northwest Texas Hospital.

At this time, the collision remains under investigation.
