Amarillo, TX – William Zachary Edwards Killed In Fatal Accident on Wellborn Rd
Amarillo, TX (September 14, 2019) On the afternoon of September 13th, a three-vehicle accident happened near the Westgate Shopping Center in Amarillo.
Reports indicate that a Toyota Camry was waiting to turn left into the shopping center when a Ford van rear-ended the vehicle. The impact caused the Camry to end up being pushed into oncoming traffic.
A man in a Jeep Wrangler was traveling northbound when the Camry was pushed in his path. Unfortunately, he was unable to brake in time and crashed into the Toyota Camry. The accident took place on Wellborn Road at around 4:15 p.m.
The impact of the collision caused the driver of the Wrangler to eject from his vehicle. Sadly, when emergency crews arrived to help, they found him lying in the roadway with fatal injuries. He has been identified as 21-year-old William Zachary Edwards. The drivers of the Toyota and Ford did not require medical assistance at the time of the accident.
The police are still investigating the accident, but they gave the driver of the van a citation for speeding and not having a driver’s license.
We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of William Edwards at this time. Our thoughts are with everyone who was affected by this accident.
Vehicle Accidents in Texas
Statistics indicate that speeding is the leading cause of almost every accident in Texas. When drivers speed, they’re usually under the influence of drugs or alcohol, which prevents them from realizing how fast they’re traveling. If they’re sober, they often speed for fun or lack of patience, which easily results in dangerous accidents that could be fatal.
For families who have lost loved ones in vehicle collisions caused by speed, we offer legal services at The Benton Law Firm to help them recover funds from all liable parties. Most families file wrongful death lawsuits if their loved ones were not at fault for causing the collision. We are passionate about helping as many grieving families as we can.
