Austin, TX – 1 Killed and Several Injured in Car Accident on Parmer Ln
Austin, TX (September 28, 2019) A fatal car accident happened in Northeast Austin on the morning of September 27th. At around 11:30 a.m., an Austin Police Officer tried to pull over a Chevrolet Avalanche, but the driver failed to stop, which lead to a police chase. The Chevrolet sped through a red light and crashed into a Hyundai Elantra that was turning at the intersection of Parmer Lane and Dessau Lane. When emergency crews caught up to both vehicles, they found the driver of the Chevrolet dead at the scene. The occupants inside of the Hyundai were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The Austin Police Department vehicular Homicide unit is currently investigating the deadly accident.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Car Accidents in Texas
Studies have concluded that speed is the leading cause of almost every fatal car accident in Texas. Unfortunately, when drivers don’t follow the speed limit, they run the risk of losing control of their vehicles and accidentally crashing into other cars. Speed also makes it difficult for vehicles to brake properly when they approach yellow or red lights, which can result in major collisions.
