Carrollton, TX – 1 Killed and 1 Injured in Hit-and-Run Accident on Sandy Lake Rd
Carrollton, TX (September 28, 2019) On the evening of September 27th, a hit-and-run car accident happened in the 1900 block of Sandy Lake Road. At around 11:30 p.m., an SUV was exiting President George Bush Turnpike frontage road when it struck another vehicle at Sandy Lake Road.
Three occupants inside of the SUV ran away on foot without checking on the driver inside of the other vehicle.
When emergency crews responded to the accident, they found a 65-year-old Dallas woman trapped inside of her vehicle. Firefighters immediately worked to extricate her and rush her to the nearest available hospital.
Unfortunately, she did not survive her injuries and passed away despite immediate treatment. There was also a 25-year-old passenger in the vehicle that sustained injuries as well.
The police are currently searching for the three culprits that fled the scene.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
Car Accidents in Texas
One of the most common causes of hit-and-run accidents is driving while intoxicated, especially if the accident occurs late in the evening on weekends. When drivers are under the influence, they are less inclined to abide by traffic laws since their perception is altered and their vision is blurred. If intoxicated drivers and passengers have a criminal record, they’re also more likely to flee the scene of an accident due to fear of being caught by authorities.
