Gainesville, TX – John Kidd Killed in Collision on W California St

Gainesville, TX (November 1, 2019) – The victim killed in a collision on West California Street has been identified by police.

Just after 11 a.m. on October 25, emergency crews reported to the scene of a motor vehicle accident in the 1100 block of West California Street. According to reports, 62-year-old John Kidd was traveling east along California Street in a 2014 Chevrolet pickup truck when his vehicle collided head-on with a black 2013 Dodge Ram, which was hauling a camper-trailer, driven by 62-year-old Lawrence Schmidt.

Kidd was rushed to a hospital in Denton where he succumbed to his injuries.

Schmidt was injured and transported to North Texas Medical Center.

Police are actively investigating this collision.
