Austin, TX – Rachelle Velin Covey Killed in E 51st St Crash

Austin, TX (November 21, 2019) – A pedestrian accident on East 51st Street claimed one victim’s life.

Just before 8:40 p.m., on November 14, emergency crews were called to the scene of a major motor vehicle accident in the 1100 block of East 51st Street.

According to reports, 48-year-old Rachelle Velin Covey was attempting to cross the roadway, when she was struck by a motor vehicle along the eastbound lanes.

Covey was rushed to Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas where she later succumbed to her injuries.

At this time, the collision remains under investigation by the APD’s Vehicular Homicide Unit.
