Houston, TX – 1 Killed & 1 Injured in Pedestrian Accident on Gulf Fwy
Houston, TX (November 24, 2019) A serious pedestrian accident happened on the morning of November 23rd. According to reports, a vehicle struck a black car on the Gulf Freeway near the Cullen exit and then left the scene. As the black car was stopped on the freeway, another vehicle rear-ended it.
The two drivers were exchanging information when a speeding car struck them both. As a result, the two victims were thrown into the HOV lane.
Emergency crews arrived at the scene and found one of the drivers fatally injured in the road. The other victim was critically injured and rushed to the nearest hospital.
The accident is being investigated, but authorities say the driver of the third vehicle was under the influence when it hit the two victims.
Our thoughts are with the deceased victim and their family at this time. We also wish the other injured victim a complete recovery.
Pedestrian Accidents in Houston
Studies show that 4,200 pedestrian fatalities occurred between 2003 and 2012. Unfortunately, most pedestrian accidents happen when drivers are temporarily distracted by cell phones, passengers, alcohol, and much more. In fact, when drivers are under the influence, they’re less likely to follow the speed limit, abide by traffic laws, or stop for pedestrians.
At The Benton Law Firm, we believe those hit by vehicles should be fully compensated for injuries and other damages, especially if they were in no way at fault for the crash. We offer free consultations for those who sustained injuries and for families who have lost loved ones in pedestrian accidents.
